What could be a better birthday present for BB (Kamber Pryderi) than having his first ride after 8 months convalescing from his serious ilness? To say he was pleased and proud is an understatement! What a lovely day for Fern too.

Visitors to this web site are well and truely due for an update of news. Lots has been happening but it has been a really difficult year for Fawks Stud so far. On 1st March Fawks were rocked by the sudden illness of Kamber Pryderi. BB is not only Fern's Grand Prix Dressage horse and best friend, he is a very loved member of our family. He developed Grain Toxic Colic and resultant Laminitis. After 24hours the prognosis was very poor - he was not given much hope of recovery. BB is a great fighter and he pulled through, although he spent 6.5 weeks in hospital. He is now home in his special yard (see his page for photos) but is still undergoing treatment for laminitis.
In other news Fern has a new member of her dressage team thanks to the generosity of the Leeden family (Madeline, Ang and Scott). Hopefully Thundy will be here for about 18 months and Fern is woking him up to do CDI-Ys on him starting later in the year. Look on her Dressage Team page for more details.
Further changes include Skye taking over Fern's 4yo pony Harry (Burrowa Bashar). That happened around Christmas and since then Skye and Harry have passed all sorts of targets they set. We are all so proud of the pair.

Sunday 1st December 2013
Congratulations to Fern and Kamber Pryderi for their fantastic performances at the Saddleworld Dressage Festival. Having just started Big Tour they placed 6th in the Intermediate II, 4th in the Grdand Prix, 5th in the Grand Prix Freestyle and 5th in the Aachen Challenge. This was a huge program for BB because these high level tests are very hard work for the horse (and rider too), and it was great to see that he had the strength to get through 4 tests in 3 days. Well done Fern and BB - we look forward to many more!
Well done to Kamber Merfyn and Burrowa Bashar too - at 4 yo they performed exceedingly well in their tests too - what fantastic futures these 2 ponies are going to have!
Tuesday 26th November 2013
Fern and Kamber Pryderi have left for the Saddleworld Dressage Festival at Werribee National Equestrian Centre. From Thursday to Saturday they will be competing in their first Big Tour Championships - this will include 2 Grand Prix tests. Grand Prix is the highest level of dressage Competition (it is what they do at the Olympics) and it is a great achievement for this young combination to have reached - both horse and rider have to be very talented to be able to train to this level. Fern has trained BB from Preliminary to grand prix and she must be very excited about this competition - it is what she has aimed for for many years now! Good luck Fern and BB!

Fern, Aengus and Kate had a great day at Yea Show yesterday. It was quite some time since they had been to an agricultural show. They took Fawks Super Trouper, Kamber Merfyn and Ferrero Rocher to have a busy morning showing. They all went really well coping with the new environment really well. It was also great to catch up with friends at the event. Thank you to the Yea Show committee for the great show and to frost Bite cafe for the excellent breakfast (especially the coffee)!

Had a great day yesterday at Ringwood Horse and Pony Club Dressage Championships. Fern and BB entertained the crowd with a demonstration Grand Prix Freestyle during the lunch break.Fern hopes to perform this new Freestyle at the Dressage Festival at the end of the month. So the lucky people there were the first to see it! The Freestyle was created by Musikur, of course! Fern also took Fererro Red Onyx for their first outing together and we are very happy with how he went.
Wednesday 9th October 2013
Fern took Kamber Pryderi (BB) and Kamber Merfyn (Merry) to the Western Port Dressage Club Dressage competition held at Werribee on Sunday 6th October. It seemed like a very early start with Daylight savings starting early that morning. Merry's first test was just after 8:30 am. Again Merry performed well doing both the Preliminary tests - 1B (65.5%) and 1D (68.5%). He won both his classes and then won the Premier Cup for ponies - an award given to the pony with the highest test score for the day. BB had a few errors in the Intermediate II test for 58% but made up for it in Intermediate I with 63%, winning this test in a field of 10. A big than you to Western Port Dressage Club for their fantastic competition and all the wonderful companies who sponsored the event!

Fern's 4 year old ponies, Merry and Harry, are well on the way to qualifying for the Dressage Festival, with excellent results today at Whittlesea & Plenty Valley Spring Dressage Competition. Merry scored 69% in the Preliminary 1D and Harry 66% for the same test. Harry's 60% in the Novice 2D was also creditable since he was extremely stressed to begin with. Well done Fern, Merry & Harry!

Fern Wright and her dressage team had a great 2 days at Treehaven Dressage Competition. Kamber Merfyn gained over 69% in his first ever test (prelim 1B), and backed it up with 6.8 in the 4YO pony. These scores gained him first place in both tests. He was such a good boy at his first ever competition and only the 3rd time he'd been off our property in 3 years. Burrowa Bashar also did well winning his test and coming second to Merry in the 4yo pony.Sunday was BB's day and it was another first - he was competing in his first Inter II test. It was a good solid test even with a few mistakes.Well done to all the team and thanks to Aengus for driving both days.
See Competition Gallery for photos.

Monday 5th August 2013
Yesterday Fern took Kamber Pryderi (BB) and Burrowa Bashar (Harry) to Werribee to the Victorian Dressage Club Teams competition. BB's last competition had been the Whittlesea and Plenty Valley Winter Series that finished a few weeks earlier. At Werribee he competed in the Prix St George (PSG) and the Intermediate I (Inter1). Warming up he looked fantastic particularly before he went in for the Inter 1. The trot was really elevated and he was beautifully forward.
The PSG went well except the 3 times changes where he again decided they should be doing 1 times changes instead. The Inter went very well with a fantastic set of 2 times changes, and this time they got the 3 times. Some excellent setting up by Fern for the changes deserves a mention. Some of the half passes could have been better set up. She won the Inter 1 with 62.89% and came 7th in the PSG with 60.???% which was still a creditable performance considering the competition and the errors.
This was Harry's first competition after 3 months off out in the paddock growing up (he was only 3). He had
been back in training for a few weeks.
The weather over night had been extremely wet and there were puddles and mud everywhere. Now a big 4yo, Harry decided that
the puddles were very scarey and one doesn't want to go through them during a test, and other horses splashing through
puddles only a few metres away when you do a test is really freaky. Other than that he did fairly well for a first go back
after a lay off. He will get more used to competitions as he goes out more over the season.
He did the Prelim 1A (62%) and the Novice 2A.

At the third and last Under 25yrs Grand Prix test of Whittlesea and Plenty Valley Dressage Club Winter Series Fern & BB again performed well to score 60.64%, winning the series, although this last test was not official because the appropriate judges were not available. Thanks to the W&PV Dressage club for a great competition although some of the weather was less than desirable. Sunday 30th June 201360.64
Fern & BB got over 61.5% in the Under 25yrs Grand prix in the W&PV Winter Dressage series. A job well done! Friday 21st June 2013
